Meeting

We met.
Life was good, but perhaps a little lonely.
And then we met.
A marriage. A couple of “waste of time” boyfriends
A couple of “bonking buddies”
I was happily single – and I never believed that I would live with another again.
Ten years
But then I met you
Internet dating. An approach. Exchange of e-mails
For a whole month – meeting by proxy – the internet is a wondrous place……..

Then we met
I had readied myself, for a date, for an interesting stranger
Clothes carefully chosen. Face made up – eyes dark – I knew by then you liked that
And a touch of perfume, but not too much
Follow “the rules”. A public place. A restaurant. People around.
There’s some oddballs out there (I'd dated a couple, but only once)

Then we met
How could it be? This stranger? Not known. Never before encountered
And yet I felt we had known each other all along
You were no stranger to me.
Conversation. Dinner. Wine. Laughter flowing and smiles
And then home
With you
Coffee
And a touch
A kiss
The scent of you on me
And we met

The Watchers

We talk
Of great things and small

We drink wine, and sit, together,
In the glow of the fire
Your eyes lambent in the half-light of the candles

Our hands touch, a lace of fingers
The warmth of your skin on the cool of mine.

Our eyes meet
And I see your smile grow
The smile that made me captive when first I saw
Those eyes reach for me

Lust rises.
A warmth in me,
Curling and twining like smoke through the soul

I reach for you
To stroke your face. To touch your lips
To touch you
Wanting you to touch me

I see that you watch me
My lust mirrored in yours
Your gradual smile.
The whites of your teeth showing animal joy

Pure and clean
The love of the soul meeting the desire of the body

The heat bursts in me
And I grin
And pull you to me

And I see the light in your eyes

I feel your hand on my breast
Your mouth on mine
Becoming urgent
Demanding response

Emotion quickens in me
The heart beats
And the blood sings
And the ancient, ever new passion surges
Your eyes deepen, and glow, darkly bright
Your weight on me
As your body enters my body
As your soul enters my soul

Bodies merge
Spirits meld
And words fail

And are un-needed, in the Two that is One

Sleeping Alone

I lie abed alone at night. I see with only dreaming eye
Through panes, the moon casts silver trace
And shadows form my lover’s face
Beside me now my lover lies
With tender word and warm caress, my love and I make song
Our spirits, souls and bodies twine
I reach to touch this lover mine,
To whom my heart belongs
Outside the moon is bright and clear; a velvet night and deep.
Though beside me empty sheets I find
A warm embrace around me twines,
And my love and I shall sleep.
